I own the copyright off this forum, which means you cannot post something and then post too it, copyright xxx, as you do not own it here, I do. Everything posted here is "owned" by the person posting it, however; as part of the copyright I hold the right to the content once posted, though that does not mean I hold the "copyright" exclusively, simply I hold the copyright upon this forum, so when you post it here, I then own it, not you.
This removes the legality of people believing they have the right to demand their content be removed, as I legally own the content and can do as I wish with it under the legal agreement I had constructed for this exact issue, and others.
If you DO NOT own the copyright, ie. a news article, article in general, news comment, etc etc, then you must "cite" the reference of the source as the copyright belongs to that person / company / website, not me. If a website contacted me about a news story that was published here and cited to themselves as the author, whilst I hold the copyright here, they hold the original copyright to that publish, which means I DO have to remove the content. This is acceptable for news, etc. This is not acceptable for people to post here and attempt to make their posts copyright, hence the legal agreement entered into when you register, and those legalities have also been covered per Australian law for those that where existing members to read the changes and by continued use accept those changes.
Simply, you CANNOT attach any type of copyright notice to any content here, as I own the copyright already.
Vbulletin, the makers of this forum software, own the copyright to this software, being I have paid to use this software upon this website only, and cannot reproduce or tamper with the software outside of their licensing arrangements.
VBSEO own the copyright to some other proprietary software that I use in conjuntion with the forum to speedup the forum, make it lighter and faster to users, more accessible to search engines, etc etc.
I cannot just go and reproduce information posted here outside of this forum, ie. take a persons post, public or private, and just go adding it into another website, nor can any other person do the same. The information posted here under the legal copyright agreement is for ptsdforum.org only, thus remains the legal property of ptsdforum.org and the anthonyparsons.com network, being my registered network. What this primarily does for me though as the owner of this forum, is allows me to negate a members request to remove their posted content, because once posted I then own that content. They may reproduce "their" posted content only upon another website themselves, but no other person may, nor may the poster of said content copy anothers reply, or even have their permission to copy the content, as jointed within a thread or topical conversation, I own the copyright to stop any person or group of people reproducing said content as a structured conversation.
That may confuse you, or help you... not sure.
