I have hung below a helicopter to get to your crash, high in the mountains
and comforted you and kept you calm as we hung below the chopper bringing you out,
every second our lives hanging by a rope,
can you see the pain in my eyes

I have come to your house and seen you holding the lifeless body of your baby,
and together we cry, as there is nothing else I can do for you,
and we see the pain in each others eyes

I have spent an hour in a boat with my head under water searching for your brother, who dove off a cliff never to come up again,
and worked on him as we pulled him out of the water
and knowing that he was gone, there was nothing we can do
I have comforted you but you have seen the pain in my eyes

my eyes have seen pain, sorrow and strife.
my heart has felt sorrow, pain, and joy
my body has been beaten, bruised and broken
my soul has been hurt but also rejoiced
my mind has never forgotten you, your problem or the outcome
and that is my life, filled with happiness and pain.
God has chosen me for this life, and I know I will survive.
