I was helping my MIL study for a diabetes course she did recently, and during this time I read all I could on the subject to help her to study. I saw above that you mentioned your husband was 50... Whilst I was helping my MIL to study we learned that most people with diabetes simply do not care to change their diets for very long because they figure that they have survived so far without a 'diet' and simply dont need it. My partners gandmother has diabetes as well and she does not care in the slightest about her eating habits. Some times you just have to let things go down hill for a little while so that your husband will eventually "wake up to himself" (sorry its the only way I know how to put it). Eventually he will become sick enough and realise that he needs to eat better... all you can really do is be there for when things get really bad... Good luck with it all though.
