OK Kid,
Listen to your elders on this and know that we have been there, done that and even have the T-shirt.
It takes 3 days for your body to purge the addiction to nicotine. The rest of the process is the actualy habit of reaching for a cig when you do certain things. For me it was when the phone rang and when I was in the car driving.
I quit in an unususal way. I realized that I did not smoke in bed, so I went out and rented a bunch of movies, hooked the VCR up to the TV in my bedroom and stayed in bed from Friday afternoon untill Monday morning. I watched movies, at ice cream, napped or what ever I wanted for 3 days. IT WORKED. By Monday the cravings were gone and I have been smoke free for 4 years with only 1 craving since and then it was a feeling of boy could I ever enjoy a smoke_____not boy do I want a smoke.
To this day I do not want to smoke AND the smell of it actually makes me sick!
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. I smoked for 40 years. I was up to 2 1/2 packs a day. If an ole lady like me can quit I know YOU can.
