This part is interesting to me. We have faced similar issues with our children insisting on joining the military even though we encouraged them to remain civilians. It seems to be a rather common theme in military families, that the children join the military regardless of other options, though I am uncertain why exactly. Perhaps they admire their fathers? In our family it most definitely causes more worry for us!
