From my limited knowledge it sounds more like a nerve or circulation problem. I have siatica in my left leg and when it is bad my foot will either go cold or I can't feel my foot or I will get pins and needles. I sometimes get the numb feeling in one of my arms also which is from a back injury and muscle/nerve related.
