I'm really doing this. After 4 and a half years of isolation, I'm back in college.
I'm starting slow, I have one class that is online, and one class that meets twice a week for 2 hours. The class that I go on campus for is "Introduction to Computers". It's very simple and easy. I've spent so much time on the computer that I feel like I could be teaching it!
I won't say that I'm totally comfortable being in class. I don't interact with other people in there. I get really upset by a woman that always bumps into me when she passes my seat.
But I'm there.
And, I got a 100 on my first homework assignment in my online course. (The class average was 81.) That was very reassuring, I was afraid that I had lost my ability to think clearly.

Wow congratulations on the 100%, and taking a live class in addition to the online one. I'm not sure I could do that (I'm taking a class online only), but you are giving me inspiration to try it out.

The live class has about 30 students, all at computers. There's not much interaction with eachother. So far, so good. At least I know that I will get out of the house on those 2 days.
I hope you can do the same, if that's one of your goals, Batgirl.

I wish I could feel proud of myself for it. Instead, I think things like: "You should have been doing this all along"... or some other crap.
I then try to counter that thought with something more positive. Sometimes it works, sometimes, not so much.

Well done belle and congrats. I too am starting back in education now, started actually, first assignment I am about to start, though its only little at 1000 - 1300 words thank goodness. I actually haven't become stressed though over study or meeting assignment deadlines which I also find healthy for me.
Your going to do just fine I believe... and the absolute best of luck and huge well done for your efforts to put yourself back into life, social aspects and education. Congratulations.

Awesome, Belle! You sound like me..."why didn't I do this before?" Just focus on the fact that you're doing it now and that's great!

Belle,
As your husband, I have to tell everyone how proud I am of you. I know it takes a lot of courage to go out again. And you shouldn't have been going all along. You had to work on yourself first. I love you.

Your support is so encouraging to me.
I'm in week 5 of classes and still have high A averages. Woot!
I've had some adjustments in interacting with other students and faculty. I really feel like a fish out of water, but I expected that.
Tommy reminds me to take this process a day at a time, and that really helps me.

My wife is too modest, and brilliant. She has straight 100's in both classes with the exception of a 70 in networking for not writing one more sentence (for real!) in an assignment. The prof said the content was good, but it needed one more sentence! And one 82 on a recent assignment that the rest of the class bombed! You go girl!

AmazonBelle finished her first semester 2 weeks ago! She overcame her initial anxiety and enjoyed taking her first 2 classes. I'm proud to announce she made A's in both classes and very high A's at that! You go girl!

Thank you all. I'm beginning a new quarter now, new fears coming up. I'm taking more face to face classes, and am the only female in the classes. It's scary all over again.
I'm just going to keep doing the best I can.

Belle .... The time is right. I'm happy this is working for you. Going back to classes earlier might not have been a good idea, even though it might seem so at this time. Making a grade of 100 is worthy of congratulations as well. I can tell, you're going to do very well in each class. (and that woman bumping you each time she passes by .... I know what you mean, doncha just hate that!)

This too is late, but your husband is (was) right on the money. Our lives are one step at a time and every step is different (as is the path). Everyday has acomplishments for each of us. Some we see now and some we see later looking back. Sometimes it takes others to point them out to us. What a wonderful husband you have also Belle. The hills and valleys are easier to get through with a partner who is supportive and understanding. Thanks to all those partners and friends who help us along the way and stick by us when things get dark and difficult.
