This was a big thing for me as I have never done anything quite like this in recent yrs. 20 yrs ago maybe, not not like me now.
Anyway, I won't mention who I met as I feel that if they want too, that they will contribute and acknowledge who they are.
We met near my home as my car is a POS (piece of shit) not capable of making it too far from home. We went to lunch at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbrige. Funny I have lived here all my life and it was my first time there too.
Spent 4 1/2 hours just talking, laughing and listening to each other. I throughly enjoyed my afternoon, and hope that the other person did also. I would love to meet again, maybe near their home, when my POS is either fixed, or I get a newer car.
It was a little nerve racking, and I was anxious before we met, but I am so glad that I pushed through my fear and did this. It gives me courage, and hope to meet others on the forum....
So that is my success story.......I really enjoyed my time....

I'm glad that you had a good time, over came your nerves and met up with your friend.
A while back, I met up with someone from another forum, it was a really positive experience. Unfortunately she moved to the other side of the world, so we didn't get the chance to meet up again. But we do still chat from time to time, so who knows what the future holds.
I think it's great to make friends on-line whilst making sure to be safe, if you do meet up.
Well, done for finding the courage, and I hope that it leads to more future positive experiences.
Hi All,
Wendy and I met today, and I think it was worth the equivalent of three years in therapy, lol! No, but in all seriousness, it was so nice to have someone who really understands what this is all about. I think, too often, doctors, therapists, etc. almost take away from the human aspect of what we need as individuals: human connection. Sometimes we're given bottles of pills when what is most needed is a hand to hold.
Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Just what we all need :occasion: .
Celebrate each success. I'm so glad you both found it worth the trip out of your safe zones and took the risk. What an accomplishment for you both.
LOL, Cindy

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. I am happy for you both. I hope to someday meet someone from this forum myself as you are all such wonderful people that make me feel not so alone in the world.
I am glad it was a good experience.
Take care, Morgan

I live in South Wales and would love to get together with someone else to talk over this PTSD, I often wonder if I will go through life never meeting anyone with the same problems, how do I go about seeing if there is anyone out there who wants to meet up for a chat, even a few of us getting together would be good, whats the first step?

When I met up with a forum member last year some time, I enriched my life ten fold.
I was terrified beyond description for days leading to the meeting and wanted more than once to cancel, but that was my agoraphobia and fear of people kicking in and I refused to let those phobias win.
I added a friend to my life. Not a friend to do girly things with, etc, but a friend that if I called and said I am in trouble and need you--that friend would come. I have no doubt.
While meeting people in person that you have met on line IS not the smartest idea anyone could ever have, I was very lucky. I got to meet Marlene! I only post her name because she had already posted our meeting.
Just felt it deserved to be in the success section

This is really great for you. My best friend from school and I both have PTSD and didn't get diagnosed until we were adults. It's good to have someone who will listen and understand what we are experiencing. Blessings to your new friendships and future friendships that will be made.
