I have noticed over the last week or so a few of the "regulars" have changed their avatars.

Just curious why.....? Thought it might be interesting to see what the thinking or reason behind it was.....eg. like a new image or a change in feelings about oneself etc?

Hi Nicolette :hello:

I changed my avatar a few days ago - I like change. I also got my hair cut and colored about a week ago so maybe I'm feeling a transformation lately. I have made some decisions about my health, taking more control over my body and mind (or at least, giving it my best). Anyway, I hope this is what is going on with me and not just me putting on "another face".

Good question!

Best,
Rachel

I changed my avatar the first time because Goingonhope and I have the same avatar, and I want to be unique. So I changed it to Tigger, and then saw that Tigger belongs to GrandmaHerc. So I had to change it again to something I had never seen on the forum before. We identify with the visual of an avatar, more than the username, so I want mine to be unique.

I just figured out how to have one . Then I had to choose tweety because my dad and I had a non ending joke about sylvester and tweety. It makes me feel like he is here with me giving me support. If he was still alive I know he would be there for me through thick and thin regardless of what anyone said (the rest of the family).

I've never been able to see avatars unless I'm NOT logged on.
If I'm logged in I cannot see them.
However I can see them if I'm logged in and look at my visitors page.

I picked mine because aside from liking it I didn't see anyone else with it and I wanted to have a unique one. I don't think I will change it unless other people start using it, something new that I like better becomes available, or we start being allowed to make our own. I love making avatars.

I can SEE!!! It's a miracle, thank you Nicolette. I gave up trying to figure it out and I am meant to be from the computer savvy generation:rolleyes:

Now I can see you all, and I had no idea what a stunningly good looking bunch you all were.

I would love to make that, however I don't think we can use custom avatars here?

I tried to do that show avatars thingy and all I found was edit avatars. Is it me or my cp?

Morgan, under Settings & Options you actually go under Edit Options, then scroll down to Thread Display options and there is a box you can tick to Show Avatars.

Nicolette, I've tried to respond here a few times, and though I learned alot from what I had written, I didn't post it bc it all seemed to deep, leaving me feeling uncomfortable with posting it, seeing that others all could respond with a few sentences.

So, having thought much about my thinking behind my avatar change, what I came up with, short and simple, is that I'd like to have an avatar that I can identify with, but that is unique to me. Also, lately I've needed to call upon a source of strength which lies within me; And, one with some shared values with Spidey, and so I figured.....I'll go with Spidey-girl for now. So Spidey really represents to me many things; I guess some of which are: undying strength, independence, protection of self and others & justice.

So, I haven't changed none, I've simply decided to accept and own more, and if selecting an avatar (lol) prompts me to some more action and helps get this process on its way, .....then that's it.

Who would've ever thought that a thread and question posed on avatar changes would've got me thinking and responding so deeply, but it has.

Take care, Nicolette.

Hope

Hope, if I was to confess, it was your avatar change which caused me to start this thread!
