hello! My husband has just been diagnosed with PTSD and I am so confused. We have been married 17 years and I had a feeling something was wrong and i knew it was bad, but to what extent i just never knew. I feel sad, upset, blownaway by all that he had to tell me. Things are just flying through my head, he has been in a facility since wednesday only 3 days and i have learned more about him in 2 days than i could take. i just don't know what to do so i thought maybe i could get support for myself and maybe understanding a little better about his actions and self abuse.

Welcome to the forum. This is a good place to come to learn, both for Carers and for those with PTSD.

Hi Blownaway and welcome to the forum.

I am a little pressed for time at present but suggest you start reading here http://www.ptsdforum.org/forum43.html.

Unfortunately, while everything has been a shock to you it is your husband who now needs to come to terms with his condition and to learn how to manage himself which can be a long and slow process. If you choose, you can support him and I hope you do. The best thing you can do is arm yourself with as much knowledge as possible and hang in there as it can be a bumpy road.

Good luck and once again welcome to the forum.

I have recently founf out I have PTSD. My wife has read this forum and we have spoken about how I feel and tried to explain what happens to me in my panic attacks etc is very real to me.
My wife has been very understanding and we seem to have alot stronger relationship now.
Just read up on info and just give him support. Sometimes a hug from my wife can ground me again. A simple thing that really helps me out.
