Today was a trying day for me. My grandson was picked up by his daddy as my pregnant daughter had to work 10 hr. shift. Within 1/2 hr. after leaving my home my son-in-law called to tell me the dryer was smoking and than within a few minutes 911 was called. The house was filled w/ black smoke and a fire had just begun. The lint trap was what the firemen determined the cause of the fire. Even though the screen was cleaned the lint that accumilates under the screen had started a fire. Lesson for all a brush or vacuum can be used to suck excess lint out. The dryer being gas could have caused an explosion.

911 was called just on time the fire was mostly contained in the utility room and not much damaged done but most important my son-in-law and gransdson did not blow up in the house. Ofcourse, my nerves were triggered and I have been in a zone state of mind. I cannot even think clearly. PTSD had done a number on me this time. I pray, I wake up in the morning more grateful no lives were taken and not much damage done instead of the "what if" attitude I usually put myself through.
May all be safe today and everyday!

Hi sunndydaze, I'm glad everyone is OK. It is a good start to be thankful instead of tormenting yourself with the "what ifs" Good work!

I am glad to hear that a tragedy was avoided.

I also have to get that tube that runs from the back end of the dryer to the outside of the house sucked out and cleaned really good every year or so. Lint catches fire easily.

Thanks both of you. If, I can save someones life from sharing this easy task, I have accomplished something. Today, I am mentally drained didn't sleep good but woke up thankful.
