My name is Bob and I live in Phoenix Az. I was a Dust-Off Medic in Vietnam from Jan 1969 to Aug 1970.

38 yrs and 4 marriages later, I live alone, have little contact with other people and, for the most part stay home all the time. I haven't had anybody I could call a friend in several yrs because I just can't let people get too close to me.

I was diagnosed by a VA psychiatrist with PTSD almost 15 yrs ago but have never pursued treatment. My way of dealing with Vietnam was to try to forget as much of it as I possibly could which created a whole new problem. Now I'm scared to get help because I've closed a lot of doors and I'm not too anxious to open them again.

I hope this forum will help me to take the first step so I don't have to live like this much longer.

Welcome to the forum! You are in the right place to get lots of great information on PTSD and talk with hundreds of other people with it too.

Hi Bob, and welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of others with PTSD that have a hard time facing their fears so your not alone.

Good luck!

I can only imagine that what you experienced was 100x worse than my worse day in Iraq.
I've found that I can only relate well to other vets.

Welcome Bob

While I am not a vet and can never begin to know what you experienced "over there" I do know about having no friends, not letting anyone get to close and never leaving the house.

I too have PTSD-source unknown. I also have agoraphobia and lots of other issues.

I fought my fears for years, but I had no clue what was really wrong with me. I fought every inch of therapy and boy was it painful. But without it I really am scared as to where I would be today.

Anytime you want to discuss anything, especially the not leaving the house part just call me
