Hell...not only that-I've offered to bring home boxes and help her pack!!!

Veiled, I've always felt the way you said (cute as babies for a reason-it's a set up!!!!!). Someone once asked me if I was going to have empty nest syndrome when my kids left home. Once I stopped laughing, I calmly explained that that was a negative.

I also subscribe to the cute as babies theory. Only my further bent on it, is this is natures way of preparing us for them teenage years. You are given all them mummy hormones, they do all this cute stuff, you love them to bits and pieces and then they turn into horrible, self-centred obnoxious creatures. Only thing is its too late by then, you've already had years of loving the hell out of them which still do anyway. Doesn't stop you wanting to boot their asses out the door when they so obviously need a good dose of reality.

Anthony's boy got one yesterday, finished part-time work 2 months ago and was told before he moved in with us that it is not our responsibility to fund his social life. He actually told us at one stage that 'good parents pay for mobile phone credit' - my response to that 'obviously we are not good parents then'. Provision of everything he needs is one thing but social life, bite our butts and go and get a job!! Two months of mooching off Anthony and finally yesterday he was told that the money tree has come to an end. Go and look for a part-time job instead of telling us that you have been and have done nothing. One unimpressed teenager but hell it sure won't kill him. Might even teach him some work ethic at the same time!

Way to go, Kerrie!

When my girls were little they used to say, "You're mean, Mommy!" - this was in response to them not getting their way.

My reply - "Yep, that's right. It's part of my job of being a parent!"

They didn't pull that one too often after that.

Ah....it does my little heart good to know that cute baby to vile, obnoxious teenager is a univeral phenomenon. *sniff* It's good to know I'm not alone in this. LMAO

Teenagers have Big Ball Syndrome. As in, 'I can't believe you have balls big enough to ask for _____________.' My daughter (who owns her own car) asked if she could borrow mine so she wouldn't have to burn up the gas in hers. Nice try, pumpkin!!

Big Ball Syndrome......I like that. Logan (said teenager) came out last night after we called him for tea and looks at me with an incredulous look on his face because neither his dad or I had made his toasted sandwiches. Woo degree of difficulty there. Proceeded to tell us that he couldn't making toasted sandwiches (with a jaffle maker) and then wanted Anthony to cut his tomato up. I told him that he needs to become familiar with toasted sandwiches and cutting tomatoes because they will form part of staple diet for a bachelor ......when he eventually leaves home.

my kids when teenagers were pretty good, i guess. the boys went through that 14-16 explosive temper kind of thing (verbal only) but they always apologized later, and we talked a lot about what was bothering them.(testosterone, i think!) they all left for school at l8, and so far, none have come back. Zack is still in school, so he comes home for christmas and summer, but now that he has a serious gf, i look for it to be even less. Daughter suffered from that "princess syndrome" for a while, but she eventually outgrew it. i am thankful for my kids everyday as i see the others at school. if you think your kids are bad, go to a school someday and watch others their age, you will appreciate them more for sure! i said all that (sorry) to say--hang in there, talk to them (they hear even when they don't want to) and it does get better.
