Default Hyper - Alertness and Anger Consume Me

Hi.

I am 35 years old and have experienced PTSD symptoms since around age 12. The symptom that causes me the most grief is my anger/rage caused by my constant, unconscious vigilant awareness of my surroundings.

The natural ability that normal people have to discern if a thing is threatening vs non-threatening seems to be under developed in myself.

Anyhow, thanks for the board.

Well, I can definately relate to that. This is a great place to start learning about why you feel the way you do and to do some hard but satisfying and important work. You can heal.

Hi Mega, welcome to the forum. Anger is one part of the issue, absolutely; and usually the most prevalent within PTSD as it is readily accessible and we are familiar with using anger to push others away from us.

hay mega

same problem here uncontrollable anger
for some reason since a few days I have a little more control probably due to various reasons. One of the things I did here is read the anger management articles. Pictures and video and explanations made me count to 5 :-)
1,2,3,4,5,1,2,3,4,5 like a madman all the time
it works a little bit in that I can stop an anger attack and change it in a babbling idiot counting to 5 :-)
