Default PTSD Trauma

During the traumatic event, emotional processing is not occurring. What is processed are details of the event / experiences.

From the above image, neurons take messages through the brain and these messages are stored in terms of Danger and Safety. When we feel safe the brain says to relax and enjoy... When we feel in danger the brain makes a flight or fight reaction.

Trauma can teach the thinking part of the brain to change reptilian and minalian responses.

What we with PTSD see, is an image projected onto a screen (being the world), which we think the world itself is hostile, when it actually isn't.
