| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | So Glad to Have Found This Forum I just happened to google PTSD forums because it consumes my life and I have no one to talk to about it because people don't want to hear about your sadness and it's difficult to talk about how you cannot rid yourself of the memories on a daily basis of how you lost the things which meant the most to you.
And now I have found this forum.
Perhaps this can be the beginning of the healing I so desperately need.
My trauma may seem so insignificant compared to the horrors others have experienced, but the horrors I experienced are just as devastating to me.
So bear with me if my heartbreak seems to be minute compared to what some of you others have been through. |

| | Welcome river,
And, hey, please don't worry about comparing your trauma(s) to anyone else's. PTSD is a sonofabitch beast which doesn't care about what or how many traumas we've been through. We're all battling the same monster. And we're all trying to heal from its attacks and forestall additional ones.
Take care,

| | Welcome, River.
As you browse the forum, I think you will find that a great many of us minimize our experiences, saying it "wasn't that bad." Healing from PTSD is very much about understanding the power and long-term effects of what happened--whatever it was. |
