Default How to Deal with Trauma Consequences on Family

I have complex/chronic PTSD. Just found out a few weeks ago.
How can I deal with the pain I have caused my family members?
How do you deal with the fact that as a sufferer of PTSD you hurt your family members?
The relationship with my husband suffered a lot.
It wasn't my fault that I was traumatized, but I still hurt my family by my anxiety and burnt through fuses.
My husband is hurt because of the affects of PTSD. And we both didn't know I have PTSD for years until recently.
It hurts that I have damaged our marriage.

Is there something like "victims guilt"?

Felicitas,

I too had PTSD for many many years before being diagnosed about 10-13 yrs ago. I too had anger problems. I would rage for days my anger was so out of control. I also had eating disorders, and anxiety. I too hurt many of the people that I loved dearly and because of this have probably destroyed any hope of fixing those relationships.

I hope in your situation that through therapy and helping yourself that you can repair the damage. There is always hope and at least your hubby and you can work at trying to come to an understanding about all of this.

I wish you well. Read all of the information here and search for other things to read. it will help your husband too if he can read it as well.
