Default Old Dog Died Today

I just learned that an old dog who my husband and me were fostering for over a year and were going to keep had died peacefully at her owner's home. She was 15 years old Cocker Spaniel. This dog gave us lots of love and friendship while living in our place. Although I generally not a big fan of this breed.
Anyways, I am sad because she died, but glad because she died pain-free and surrounding by caring people. I am an atheist, but certainly do understand those who say that all dogs go to heaven.

I am so sorry to hear about old dog. It is painful whenever a pet is lost. Keep the fond memories of him in your heart.

Thanks everyone for your support.
I know this dog had the best life any dog can possibly have. For me, losing pets is tough, although years of working in the emegency veterinary medicine a sort of desensitised me. So it is not as tough as for most people.
But thanks again, your words were important.

Hi Linda,

Sorry to hear about your foster dog. I too have worked at an emergency veterinary clinic. Dealing with animals I don't know is one thing, dealing with my own pets is an entirely different matter.

Have you ever seen the Rainbow Bridge poem? Its about our deceased dogs going over the Rainbow Bridge to wait for us. Each time I read it I cry.

I used to post on a Dog Owner's Forum and they had a whole section of the forum called Rainbow Bridge, where you could post a dedication to a deceased companion.

Today would have been our family dog's 20th birthday! He died 7 years ago and is buried at my parents' house. Mum has a lovely rose bush growing at his grave and today I visited and went and said "Hi" to him for the first time in maybe a couple years. He told me he is watching over us during this tough time...

linda
may be if you kept in mind that you made a difference in not only a animal life but you made a new freind when you gave the dog to it's new owners. Think of the happiness you gave. and the love you shared and passed on to others
