Default Social Groups

Whilst many are already discovering the new profile features of the forum, the ability to now create a more functional personal page, send messages to users, create photo albums and more, there is another new aspect to the upgrade which I have allowed, being Social Groups. You can access social groups from your user CP link.

A social group is a group of interest. For example, before users created threads here such as poetry, recipes, art work and so forth. Now you no longer need do that, instead you can create a group. You can make the group private or public, invite only or anyone can join. The idea is that you create these groups based on group interests here. They do not have to have anything to do with PTSD, just like your blogs, they are independent to the PTSD aspects.

If you have an interest and know others here with the same interest, then you create the group and those members interested in that particular thing join the group to discuss it, swap ideas, share that interest with one another.

Again, groups are not for general chit chat, they are there to serve a purpose. This then takes those aspects out of the typical forum spotlight and to the side of the forums main purpose, being PTSD. Whatever your interest you can create a group, however; I will not allow multiple groups of the same thing created, as that just defeats the purpose and I do not promote competition between members here of who has a bigger group and so forth. The idea of the forum remains, to promote healing, togetherness, the ability to function with people you do get along with, and even don't get along with. Its about building self esteem, building confidence, building assertiveness to assert yourself, not attack another or defend yourself, but assert what you feel, think and believe.

For all those Christians, an example could be a Christian group for the purpose of talking about your God, or those in other religions. The scope is endless. Yes, I do monitor them, and will edit anything as mentioned, ie. multiple groups of the same nature, absolute stupidity, spam, you get the idea. Use commonsense and I am sure the group will be successful to you and those who join it.

I have a question. I started a social group, and I noticed that there is an option to add pictures. Are the pictures supposed to be related to the social group's subject, or are they just whatever members want to add? Also, are there any limits to how many pictures allowed in the social groups or in the new albums we have in our profiles? Thanks.

Exactly.... and yes, the pictures should only be related to the social group. If you started a cartoon group, then the pictures would only consist cartoons, for examples sake.

From what I gathered from starting my own album Evie is that you have a maximum of 60 photos with specified dimensions. You can test it by adding a photo to your public profile album (which you can delete afterwards if you wish) at which point it tells you that you can add 59 more photos and the size.
