| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | New Member in FL - Not Sure What Caused My PTSD Hi, I found this forum in my efforts to deal with PTSD. I am not sure what the initial cause was... a childhood filled with trauma or my marriage to an abusive man, but here I am. I am currently unemployed and no longer in college. I had to stop going to college because I became very depressed and could not bring myself to go anymore. As the depression lifted (after getting out of the marriage), I am left dealing with the PTSD symptoms and trying to cope. I am getting divorced and becoming a single mom all in one swipe. Trying to deal with things is becoming harder and harder and I am not sure what to do anymore. I had to stop counseling because I no longer had the resources when I quit school. I am starting back to counseling at a crisis center (too far away so this took me awhile to choose as an option) on friday. I hope that I can sort through some of these issues somehow. Of course, this means rehashing all the stories from scratch. I will read posts here as I can to get a feel of what everyone else is doing to cope. |

| | Hiya curiosity
Welcome to the forum. I'm new here too but i have found it so helpful that you wouldnt believe it. Its great to know you are not alone here. I'm so sorry to hear about your traumas. Were you aware that ptsd can stem from either one trauma or multiple traumas? Sounds to me like ti could be from multiple ones.
Its great to hear that you are getting some form of counselling back so well done for taking that step. I know only too well how hard it can be to start from scratch - i have had to several times. But it will be worth it in the long term.
You'll find lots of great ideas, advice and help here so well done for joining.
Take care |
