| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

Welcome to our little family. Yes, you do belong here as far as I am concerned. I felt the same way when I first came to the forum.
Since you are no longer working, like myself, I don't know if the way I survive will help you but I"m glad to share. I do not use an alarm clock, unless I have a doc appt. I take a nap mid day and wake up when I wake up. Sometimes it causes me to go to sleep very late at night. My feeling on that Oh Well.
Some people may look on the way I live as lazy, but I eat when I'm hungry and sleep when I feel the need. I hold no reguard to the time of day and the "traditional" way most people live their lifes.
My 83 yo mom lives with me and she has been on this type of schedule for some time. She has been improving daily this way. She is more rested, feels better and the main improvement is she is not as fatigued as she had been before this schedule was set up for her.
Granted she is 83 and has physical issues we do not have to worry about, but this has improved her quality of life. My only bad habit these days----lack of excercise. I probably should since I am about 20 pounds over weight, but hey, my cats don't care! ! Since we deal with such intense fatigue my personal feeling is to not push myself to hard. My therapist told me to deal with as much as I can(of anything), then go just a little longer. Key words being "a little longer"
Hope this helps. Hey, can't hurt, right |

| | Hi Pat,
I do hope you stay. I had a really nasty childhood, too. I've just recently started experiencing joint pain which my doctor is monitoring. I have some elevated liver enzymes which are being looked into, as well.
It sounds like you are really making an effort, physically, to "push" through it. Those results don't seem to be working, right now. What does your doctor say? What about an anti-inflammatory? Ibuprofen? I'm taking 600mg Ibuprofen 3 times a day right now for the pain and it has been working fairly well.
Have you tried a combination of an anti-inflammatory AND walking?
Best,
Rachel |

I too have P.T.S.D. and Fibromyalgia along with back ,feet and knee problems. It is hard when you are depressed to think of exercising. That is the least on my mind. I am so tired I barely get my daily chores done or get dressed before my husband comes home. I have had insomnia for many years but now I am wanting to sleep all day and night. I have had some depressive events happen this past month. I try playing happy music or walk the dog when weather permits. I want to get well but to many things get in my way. Glad to have you in the forum.
