The Strings of My Soul

Playing the strings of my soul
Listening to the music in my heart
Trying to hear the instrument within me

Creating the rythem in my soul
Monitoring the flow of the note's liquid movement
Hearing the fragile tones of mood

The crushing aspects of my life pulling my strings
Playing my instrument through its ebbs and flows
The memories a presence in my music
Playing the songs of music past

Composing a life in a new day
Looking for the notes of a new melody
Trying to catch the wave to a new beginning
Making the music to a new rythem

Fresh notes come from my soul
Notes to create a new musical arrangement
The composition creating an inner realm to sing with

My soul, my song, my instrument
The music of life
The flow of life's meaning and purpose

I was an English teacher for 13 years, and I appreciate your poem, both for its content and its language. I like it, especially some specific word combinations that really "strike a chord" with me, if you will pardon the pun!

Your poem is beautiful, I've been reading it over and over. I can relate to the feeling through it.

It also expresses how I feel when I'm singing, and how I'll sing in the future as I heal more and more.

Thank you. I'm so glad I passed the English test. It's always been a slight challenge for me. That's why I teach high school science. Inner City School - taught for 27 ? 28 years. Going for maybe 10 more or so ...
