I really appreciate everyone's suggestions, experiences and encouragements.

I've always felt "so-so" about sex. Sometimes I like it, and sometimes I do it for the intimacy- not necessarily because I think sex feels so great. But in the end, either way, I enjoy it. Also, I'm wondering if I'm going through a really bad depression at the moment and if that's what is causing it - I'm going to write about it in a different thread because it's something I'm really struggling with right now - whether things that I'm feeling are from the meds or are they because I'm going through a depression.

Tammy, as far as the Wellbutrin, I was put on a combination of Lexapro and Wellbutrin before going on the Effexor specifically for the libido problem except the Wellbutrin started making me hallucinate. I'm so anxiety ridden, and since Wellbutrin has a "get up and go" aspect to it, it totally put me over the edge. Even though I have the diagnosis of PTSD, I still question whether or not I'm bi-polar because when I'm not on meds, I have episodes of mania.

Well, still no sex, but I did buy him 3 fish today for his tank, I'm buying time!!!!!!!!!!

Best,
Rachel

Do you think the combination was the cause of hallucinations?

When I took Wellbutrin along with Darvocet or Vicodin I would have some real strange thoughts. Very close to hallucinations at times. As long as I don't take the medications to close together I can take them both in one day, but I really try my best to endure the pain because those intrusive thoughts scared he hell out of me.

I see your point about Wellbutrin being a "get up and go" medication because it helped me get out of bed where Prozac helped me sleep for 18 hours at a time.

Anyway, you should do what is in your best interest. I just wanted to give you my experience with it, so that if you ever change your mind, combinations of meds is one thing you can consider.

Peace
Tammy

Hey,

I am on effxor and my sex drive (which is a joke after effxor...more like sex walk...or jog...lol..) is gone! Nothing...

I find that at certain times...(near my period) my sex drive peeks...but...even still it's almost nothing. It was effxor.....nothing I can do about it...

Try talking to your doc...maybe there is something I don't know about that can help you out...and me..lol.

SSRIs can reduce sex drive and sexual pleasure and delay orgasm. If you're taking antidepressants and notice impaired sexual response this is something to talk to your health care practitioner about - they may be able to find a different drug for you.
