Default Call a Friend or Try to Help Others?

I got a new gig , , , I go to a place where young people are being housed , , they are one step away from full juvinile lock down , , , , I go in and bring others in , , then we talk about what can happen to them if they stay on the same path they are on , , , we speak of the path we took and were it brought us , , and all the sh-t we have had to endure since, , , , we also speak of what is happening with our lives today and how much better it is , , , we never sugar coat the truth tho , , life is hard but also very rewarding when you get threw the tuff stuff , , ,

when people call for help or I call for help from a friend
which ever way it go , , , both parties benifit, , , when I call - the other person gets to help me , , , if they call and I do nothing more than listen we both benifit again , , isn't that what friends are for , , , so why do we not do that more often , , , aspeicially when that friend is really just a phone call away , , , , the phone only weighs a few ounces , even if it feels like a thousand pounds , , ,
my heart is strong and my wishes are true for others in my life , , I wish them the very best in life , , , and wish the very best for all of you people I have met in this forum , , , their are many in hear I still think about , , , but I really don't like to spend all that much time sitting hear pecking away on this ---- PC , , ,

beatle bailey,
How true your words are. Too bad good friendships like you wrote about are rare. In one of my threads, I wrote of a good deed I did with a 87 year old neighbor of mine. I shoveled a little bit of his snow for him. I woke up depressed and immediately asked myself what I could do to get out of my mood. It did help as he was very appreciative. Helping others that do appreciate has always been rewarding. Good for you.

You are so right that when you make an effort for somebody else it puts you in a different state of mind. My husband was diagnosed with cancer in January this year and I needed to learn about it etc, especially since he initially said that he wouldn't take treatment - he was ready to go be with our babies. The time I spent learning to help him, helped me to feel more productive for a little while anyway. It also helped convince my husband to get treatment.
