| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Yeah you are right!
I think one problem I keep coming up against is this idea of a 'new me'; I was never given the opportunity to ever find me. I have lived life through my experiences. I feel I am slowly becoming who I wish to be! Someone I know I can be, someone who speaks to me! Someone who is not defined by their past. I am who I am in spite of the past actually.
I guess this healing is about finding oursleves, who ever that may be? Not that you have lost 'you', just that you are reclaiming 'you'! Yes you are reclaiming the parts of you you have rarely had the opportunity to explore or experience. You do not need to wear a new outfit you just need to step out of the old one - yes! We are all reclaiming what was has always been just underneath the surface!
That is better, eh?

| | This is what I love about human beings - we shared our thoughts and insights, we assisted each other and we agreed upon a new healthy direction. These moments reflect the love I have for life and just 'being'.....
Great thread and great team work!

| | Maybe this all does go back to loving myself, I am working on that now, my new mantra is " be kind to yourself, love yourself" that has overtaken my negative thoughts which is a HUGE win! I don't know if I can make everything right but I just want to feel like those regrets don't hold as much power as they used to. They are all about the past, I can't fix them now but I need to let them go, maybe I should wirte them out, pray about them and burn the paper to signify letting go of the past regrets. |

| | This is so great. I was trying to explain to a friend recently that I feel damaged. Not damaged as a person, just damaged. By life. You guys explain it so well.
Such a better way to think of it. Not damaged, just different. Changing.
Thanks!
Oh, I actually did that with some of my regrets. I had one big one that really made me grieve alot. So I wrote it out. What happened, what i wished had happened, what I did and what I wished I had done. Then I prayed about how I could make it a positive change in my life. I prayed for a long time. Then I actually dug a hole in the ground and buried it. Like a grave. It was very theraputic for me. |
