Bulldog, Hi! I have not experienced this. Do you think it was anxiety that made this happen? Was there a trigger? Or do you think it may be something else, like something to go see a Dr. about, maybe that it's unrelated to the anxiety?

Cypher

From my limited knowledge it sounds more like a nerve or circulation problem. I have siatica in my left leg and when it is bad my foot will either go cold or I can't feel my foot or I will get pins and needles. I sometimes get the numb feeling in one of my arms also which is from a back injury and muscle/nerve related.

Bulldog,

I HAVE experienced this while having a panic attack. I have had my hands, my ears, my feet and other various body parts go numb during panic attacks. It is actually something that I "expect" now, if I fall into a full blown panic attack.

Your jaw being sore, again, something that I experience frequently when having a panic attack, that is from you tensing your jaw muscles.

I have gone to the ER during some of these times and my blood pressure is always normal (which BAFFLES me EVERY time), they run tests, I sit there for hours, and of course - all is just peachy, I'm simply having a panic attack.

To be safe, I would still talk to your doctor. But, I just wanted to let you know that what you described is something that I experience often with panic attacks.

Best,
Rachel

I had this happen in the past when I was at my max with PTSD symptoms. Mine started in my mouth. My tongue went numb first, then the roof of my mouth, my head, arms ect. My Dr thought that I was having a heart attack at first, but then put it down to good old anxiety.

The crap we go through is awful at times, even scary if we don't know what it is. Just try and stay grounded. Try and remember that it's just anxiety, just feelings and emotions. Try not to let your mind make more of it, or your anxiety will sky rocket more.

This is like my attacks and I discovered that during my attacks I don't breathe like I should, even to the point of holding my breath. Once I figured this out, now when in an attack I TRY to remember to do my breathing exercises. So far they have helped
ease this numbness and other symptoms you described.

Are you familiar with the different deep breathing exercises?

I think deep breathing exercises are a great idea. Also the area's you speak of are all innervated from the neck, so theoretically neck tension could lead to all of these symptoms. Which would seem to be a place that could generate a lot of tension during a panic attack. You could try Chiropractic or massage and see if that helps at all. But a visit to your G.P. is never a bad idea if you are concerned it might be something bigger.

Thank you all for you responces!

I have been in good health and this was definatly at the height of a anxiety attack, I had spoken with my boss at work, I could bearly speak to him, he kept asking what was wrong , I didnt feel I was speaking in a way for him to be asking this which further freaked me out. So cypher that was definatly my trigger.

Rachel Im grateful to hear you have experienced this, not happy you are though, I hope that makes sence. I have a cuff and scope so I checked my own preasure and it was good, better safe then sorry, i can understand why you went to the ER, it was just plain wierd.

She Cat, thanks for the reasurance, it really helps to hear it from somebody that knows and understands, I am going though hell right now, the worst I have been since the incident, in fact I was better after the incident.

Grama-Herc I agree it makes perfect sence that it would have to do with breathing, I will have to look into the breathing excersises.

Thanks you ALL again, this group is just awesome, Im learning so much and finding comfort in all of you!
