I've been writing poetry for years, and somehow they started to become song lyrics.
I just finished writing something for my girlfriend a few minutes ago and found this thread, so I hope you don't mind me sharing it.
She Can’t Let Go...
Whatever happened, to the little girl in her?
Whenever she smiled at me, my heart began to stir
I knew that she was happy, by the way her eyes would glow
But she hid her secrets deep inside, so afraid to let it show.
As we held close, and I learned a bit about her
I could see the little girl again, and I could see she wasn’t sure
She knew she had to face it, and she had to let me know
She was just hurting deep inside, and she said she can’t let go.
She can’t let go, (she can’t let go)
But her fears are starting to show
She wonders if she’s holding it
Or if it’s holding on to her
When I ask why she cries
Her tears can’t tell me why
She tells me what I need to know
It’s because she can’t let go.
Whatever happened, to the little smile she had?
Whenever she talked to me, my heart was beating fast
She knew she had to face me, and tell me what I needed to know
She was still hurting deep inside, and she said she can’t let go.
She can’t let go, (she can’t let go)
When her past is starting to show
She wonders if she’s holding it
Or if it’s holding on to her
When I ask why she cries
Her tears can’t tell me why
She just says she doesn’t know
It’s because she can’t let go.
Whatever happened, to the way that she once felt?
Now whenever she holds me close, my heart begins to melt
She feels she couldn’t replace me, because I learned what I need to know
She knows I love her deep inside, and now she can’t let go.
She can’t let go, (she can’t let go)
Now her love is starting to show
She wonders if she’s holding me
Or if I’m holding on to her
When I ask why she cries
Her tears now tell me why
She says she loves me, and I know
It’s because she can’t let go.
