Default Baby Steps - Changing Islands to Understanding

After reading this site for a lonnnggg time, I decided it was time to join. I was diagnosed with Delayed Onset Complex PTSD 18 months ago. But who's counting. Basically I lived 37 years not remembering a thing from my childhood and then I started having flash-backs. Sexual abuse, domestic violence, emotional abuse.... a snappy little mix that I never remembered. O...and my job...working for a major news company covering death and destruction. The person that I was turned out to be nothing that I am. I always think of my team of psychologists/psychiatrists as a bunch of clowns on unicycles....they help. They've helped every day since this happened. But they don't have it. No one I know has it and so that's why I'm here. I talk, I go to individual therapy, I go to group therapy...but I feel like I'm still on that island of "nobody understands....nobody knows". Guess I'm either hopping on your island or stepping off of mine for all this.

Hi,

There are a few here that don't remember much of their childhood either. I have some memories, but not all. WE understand so I guess this is your island for now......

Hi there

I remember most of my childhood but I blanked nearly all of the trauma till about 5 years ago. I have a missing year when I was 9, I have no idea why. And I'm missing a couple of years in my early 30s, I remember a few bits and pieces, but it's mostly blank. It's disconcerting trying to fill in the blanks. Old photos and diaries help a bit.
