| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | Introduction - So Very Alone I have been working on my PTSD for many years. I know the events will never go away but I know I can learn how to deal with the triggers and flashbacks better. I am hoping to find someone here whose experiences are similar to mine. i am new here so I don't exatly know what to say next....How open can we be....? I wouldn't like to trigger anyone else but I am so very alone, so very alone. |

| | Hi Mercy---
I don't know if you will find people whose trauma is similar to yours but certainly you will find people who have experiences of PTSD that are similar to yours. Different things bring us all to the same struggles. I find that I recognize in people with very different traumas, symptoms of PTSD that are very much like mine. And even from people who are at different places in their experience you can get a wealth of feedback and support.
There are moderators to keep an eye on things that are inappropriate so I say, be as open as you feel comfortable with (although I am not a moderator so maybe one should answer that better than me! ).
Welcome to the forum.

| | Hi Mercy. Welcome to the forum!
I found your intro. late, .....late at night that is, in fact some people refer to it as the next day or early morning hrs. Anyhow, I just wanted to make sure I welcomed you before attempting sleep. Also, wanted to leave you with a couple links to info. that may answer some questions.
I wish I had more time to say more now.
Here's the links: Why Are We Here? What is The Purpose? Forum Aim?
Take care.

| | Welcome to the forum from me as well.
If you fear something you may have to say may trigger something in someone else you could always put the word trigger at the end of your subject...just a thought, though the moderators may suggest something different. I am not sure.
Again welcome!

| | Welcome to our little family!
While we respect each other and try not to cause any problems for anyone, we ALL know that we will run into triggers just by being here. It is just part of the beast called PTSD.
Our moderators will keep you in check, I can promise you that! I know from personal experience! LOL I got inappropriate a while back and they got me in check real quick.
So, just be yourself and let the healing begin. |
