| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | I Finally Found Out What Is Wrong With Me Hello
I am not sure I am doing this correctly as I have never done this before. I am newly diagnosed with PTSD and depression. I have known for years that something was wrong with me and it is a relief to finally know what it is. I can't seem to keep a job for any length of time and now I have ended up in a transitional homeless shelter. I am not sure how to support myself but I have filed a disability claim and if I get it maybe I will be able to survive. I am looking forward to learning how other people deal with their PTSD to get ideas on how to change my situation. |

| | Welcome, Sparrow And this might sound strange, but congratulations on your diagnosis. It's awfully hard to work on something when you don't know what it is or go about it! I too felt relieved when I was diagnosed...for some reason having a name/label/phrase helped me gain hope. This is a good place to learn and get support...again, welcome! |

| | Hi. I, too have filed for disability benefits. I thought I had a disabling physical condition, it was only after my initial claim was denied that it my doctor suggested that I was suffering from depression or bipolar disorder and that I see a psychiatrist for evaluation. Then another doctor suggested the same thing, thinking I was perhaps, paranoid. Now it seems that my disability claim is taking a turn toward emotional disability rather than a physical one. I too cannot seem to hold a job.
Good luck in your claim. It is a long and painful road that you are not taking alone. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
