| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | I wrote and sent a message to my son. I have not seen or spoken to him in almost 12 years. I found his profile on My Space. I do not know if he will write back but even if he doesn't at least I got a chance to tell him I love him. |

| | Good luck on that Jet.
Kara, the yoga does help if you do the right kind. It is overwhelming how much goes into it and the different varieties. But for me when my therapist walked me through it she was also speaking to me in such a soothing tone and it was like one of those relaxation CDs you listen to.
She suggested a directional DVD or video by Patricia Walden. She said it may be a bit dated but she was real soothing. She is going to look in her collection and find a title that is best suited for anxiety. She could not remember off the cuff. I will find out next time I visit and let you know when I do.
She strongly suggests going to classes designed for aniety but since the only time I can find classes conflict with my hubs driving schedule I do not go and I already fight with the agoraphobia.
Thing to remember not all yoga is the same. Some can be very soothing and you don't have to do all the positions. Try to find something made for anxiety relief. Others are too hard core a work out.
The stretches really help me, that I do know, as it can really get some of those kinks worked out without a massage. And used with or during relaxation CDs it can work like a charm to center you. It is worth learning. |

| | Just a word of caution about yoga ... I starting out learning it from a DVD by myself, and I ended up overdoing triangle pose and whacked out my back. After about 10 days of pain I dragged my butt to a yoga class for the first time to see if the instructor could help, and she really did. So, if at all possible, I would suggest starting out in a class with a good instructor who will watch how people are doing, newcomers especially, and repeatedly remind people not to do a pose or hold one if it becomes painful. It's something people should go at at their own pace. I found Patricia Walden very soothing, too, but it was while following one of her DVDs that I hurt myself. |

| | canceled appointment since she changed the time, (I do not do well with change at last minute)
But cleaned toddler's room. 6 moving boxes and a bag. How do kids get that many toys? But it is a very clean tidy room now. She is even sleeping in there tonight. |

| | Made a terrarium with a live green moss smooth surface around the plants as I put them in. This way it looks old and established even if the young plants are new. With the lid on the tank now i wont even have to water it very often either. Self maintaining is kinda nice on a house plant.. My friends joke I am trying to make the terrarium look like the emerald isles.
