| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | New to The Board, Not New to PTSD Hey all
I've had PTSD for about 3 or 4 years now, but haven't had the money to get formally diagnosed. Mostly I've just stuffed and done what I could to control the symptoms enough to function. But I'm tired of being alone, and I'm eager to talk to someone who knows what it's like to have all these emotions and memories running around, even if the emotions aren't "feelable". Mostly, I just need to talk and find ways to really heal, because I'm tired of feeling just barely in control.
Thanks for listening. |

| | Hi Eagle! Welcome to the forum.
You will find many of us here struggle with the whole "officially" diagnosed bit. Do you see a regular counselor? Is your doctor aware of what is wrong with you? (god, that sounded bad...but I don't know how else to word it... sorry) What country are you in? Some of us have had to get creative to get help outside this forum. Anyways, welcome and nice to have you!

| | Thanks for the warm welcome. Nope, no counselor, no friends, no supportive family that understands. I've been truly alone with this. I keep trying to tell Docs what's going on, but you know how M.D.'s can be.
I tried to talk to the counselor at the college I go to, but i don't think she's had much experience with PTSD. She treated me like a whiner last time, when things were under control.
I'm in the USA. |

| | Hi Eagle
Maybe you should think of seeing another Doc. if possible. If the Doc is'nt listening it's not doeing you any good.

I too have been isolated before from all support and for far too long. You know I even was deeply hurt by someone, with PTSD but not doing anything about it, just 5 days before I found this forum. She ridiculed me in front of others, all in which were paying attention, and remarked how I was so badly out of my mind. In a real rude and righteous way. TBK, I wasn't. Oh how this hurt at the time, but I think it had everything to do with motivating me and soon after finding this site. Eagle3 there's such great PTSD info. on this site, if you read it, it may well blow your mind. In a good way of course. I'm making progress slowly in reading much of it because it is so helpful and right on track that my brain needs breaks to really grab hold of it for keeps. Wishing you well. |
