| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Hi, New Here and Suffering PTSD Hi everyone,
My name is Leigh, i am female and 24 years old, i am from the UK.
My doctor told me i have had some form of PTSD since i was 9 or 10 which was when the SA started.
Everything spiraled out of control when i was 19 years old and i lost 2 people who where very close to me, my brother and non-biological Grandad.
I sunk into deep depression and bulimia at age 19, i lost weight somewhere near 3 stone (42 pound) in a matter of months. While this was going on i started to SH/SI.
I finaly went to see my doctor who prescribed me a very mild anti-depressant called Citropram i think it was either 1mg or 2mg.
Anyway my doctor arranged for me to see a social worker to talk through my problems with, which did help some, i was still severly depressed, so the social worker talked to my doctor and told my doctor to prescibe me seroxat at 40mg, which is completley wrong as the starter dose is 20mg.
Anyway it sent me SU and i ended up in general hospital for 3 days and then a psychiatric hospital for a week, i faked being better to get out of there.
So for the last 5 years i have been in and out of psychiatric hospital and spent over a complete year in a specialised unit for victims of SA.
I was sent to the specialised unit due to a carer SAing me severely when i was 22 years old, i was a paitent of his in the psychiatric hospital i was in and i was on a section 3 (6 months involuntary in hospital). I reported him to the police and he was sentenced to just 1 year in prison and 1 year on license.
That is my story. I would like to get to know people here.
Thank you
Take Care
Leigh
