Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now.

Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year.

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could help me with any tips about claiming DLA for PTSD.
I would be really grateful for any help.

disability living allowance? get the psych to say you have it, get the forms and fill them in, remember they are looking for reasons for why you cant work and also looking at reasons why you have a disability, at the same time i would suggest income support as well, there is a medical interview with the dla under the dwp rules, they just want their own doc to have a look at you, its not a strict session, so dont worry about it, may take upto six months but makes life a lot easier, fill in the forms putting down what the effects of your ptsd are, even the seemingly trivial ones, the forms are no place to be modest, they want to see whats wrong with you, so stick whatever is a prob on the paper.
