Default Your Member Introduction - How to Write It

An introduction is merely to break the ice. You'll be quite surprised how easy it is to feel at home on a forum, once you break past that initial point and say "Hello".

Your not saying, "Hi, my name is "x" and I have PTSD"; as its not an addiction. A few simple points to break the ice are:

# Name
# Where your from
# Do you have PTSD? Spouse off, with PTSD? Family member of PTSD? Or simply you just want to know more about it?
# A little about yourself if you desire...

No pressure here, just relaxing chat and getting to know one another. The forum also contains plenty of support on PTSD, fact sheets and more.

Please don't feel as though you have to go out of your way to try and help others with answers, because that often fails if you haven't already helped yourself first. Merely posting about yourself, being honest, telling people how you feel, things you do already to control certain parts of your life, things you have tried that failed for you, and so forth. This type of general chat helps others the most, and will help you the most.

If anything, coming on here with a whole lot of problems, and feeling as though you have to reply / help others, will only do you more harm than good, because we can see through it. We are not here to be fake, just honest with each other. Those who have healed considerably are here to help you, asking nothing in return. So please, don't feel as though you have to make an impression by posting lots, just be yourself and take if you need too. You cannot give what you do not have, so please don't attempt too.

We are here to help people, who want to help themselves. We do not ask for anything in return, so please do not feel that you must give back, because you do not have too. Remember the golden rule: do not try and give something that you do not have yourself yet!
