I despise political correctness; it's so ivory-tower.

That being said, I'm happy to report it's on the wane, if only a little. It depends on where you go. You'll still find die-hards on college campuses (the usual suspects), but for the most part, people are sick of it.

The latest PC gone mad is that a local Health Board here in Scotland have decided to ban Easter, as it may upset Muslim patients. But the muslims have told the health board not to be so blooming silly. But the Health Board are not budging on this matter. So the staff will not get Easter Monday off as a public holiday, and that includes the Muslim Staff who are raging about it as well.
The place has gone mad.

I think all the holiday stuff is BS. The comedian, Carlos Mencia pointed out a lot of good points regarding that on one of his "Mind of Mencia" shows.
Also, can someone explain to me why we have all these racial awareness months here in the US? If the US is supposed to be a 'melting- pot' where everyone is considered equal, then why do different races need to be recognized?
Even in school and job applications I have seen where they want you to mark which race you are... and then they tell you that race is not a factor-BS! All I see is double-standards and I think this adds to PC problems.

I totally agree with you Mac. It doesn't matter what colour your skin is, as long as you can do your job. And that is the important thing.
I have many friends who are coloured and they don't give 2 hoots what colour you are.
Cheers

Ummm... don't get me started on that one. When I sit back and watch racial issues, I never do get why white people are trying to convince others of black persons rights, nor the other way round. If your not black, you shouldn't be speaking about what is best for black people, if your not white, you shouldn't be speaking about what is best for white people. A unique and sensible approach to me, is to forget about what colour skin is within the world, and just treat everyone equally, without prejudice, and make decisions based on humanity, not colour, not race, not ethnicity, etc.

Hi folks. I agree with Anthony and Mac. What difference does the colour of your skin make. Its the person that is important. But on the other hand why is it still in Aus that the Aboriginies are still treated badly in some parts of the country, afterall they are the "Original" Australians.

I'm not sure why the some of the Job Applications I have filled have the "Race" box to check. I do know that it is optional to do that. It's also optional to mark whether male or female, if your name doesn't give it away. For college, I marked that box that said, Asian/pacific Islander, because the state schools have to meet certain quota. I also qualified for many scholarships by being in the minority.

Yes, but if you do not check it or be a smartass (yes I did it) and in race where it says other and put human under other race blank they kind of over look you. As well your uncooperative attitude will not be something they are looking for.

I interpret that part of their application and actions thereafter as a form of discrimination based on race.
