Aboriginals are given more than what any white Australian is given, but they actually choose more to live the way they do, and do the things they do by choice, not by treatment. No matter how much you try and please some of them, they just destroy things and opt to remain drunk instead and cause lots of problems for others who just want to go about their business. Its not aboriginals who are treated badly here anymore, its everyone around them that gets treated badly.

In Darwin for example, the government built them houses just for them, little villages actually, and they have to rebuild them every few years because they burn them down, pull them apart and burn them, sell parts for alcohol. The one's that want to participate in western society do so, and do very well, the one's who choose to live the original aboriginal lifestyle on the land do so, and they do that very well also, then you have the one's who don't know what they want, so they complain about everything. They get given cars if they want them, and the one's that take them destroy them, sell them, drink it all away then go back with their hand out.

I don't agree with what goes on here in that sense, in that they have been treated very poorly in the past, but now the government and even some Australian believe we owe them for the rest of eternity. I don't agree with that methodogy. Most aboriginals are very nice people, whether they live on the land or in society, its just the one's that are confused and abuse what they have available to them... there the one's that piss me off. Those who are in Townsville know exactly what I mean.

-Sounds like rebelliousness to me. We have a very similar problem here in the US as well, and I'd say its like a cancer; and I'm sure its quite obvious... just watch American media.

I have witnessed and experienced things that have shaped my attitude towards these problems, both serving in the military and the sht my wife has had to deal with from the 'majority' that are employed at Wal-Mart down here in the south. It made me so happy when one of those 'biatches' was recently arrested for embezzeling money from Wal-Mart; especially since she (known for preaching the Gospel no less) was one of the racist @ssholes always picking on my wife at work.

And I will be quite clear here when I state that I, nor anyone else alive today in America, owes anyone reparations or so-called "positive discrimination" for what a bunch of @ssholes did back in history!

Yep, I must agree with that. In Australia, cultural significant land was taken from aboriginals, and that was returned, and has been now, however; I don't believe we owe them anything for what has been done, considering the choices they make. Either they want to participate in society by the same laws we all must obide, or they participate on their land in their original heritage, but not drink alcohol, take what they want from western society culture, then piss and moan about being hard done by when they are given everything. If they aren't given it, then they moan harder. Basically what I'm saying is, make a damn decision and stick with it, is what those involved in racial discussions need to do IMHO.

I think that what Anthony says makes sense. But even our Kiwi friends have their faults over the Maoris. These are proud people.
Here in the UK, the Gurkha has been treated like a 2nd class citizen in the Army, its only recently that they have been given the same pay and conditions as a British soldier and rightly so.
I know that in some Southern States in the US, the KKK still rule with their vile abuse of coloured, Jewish or catholic people. In the UK we have the BNP who are Nazis, Period!

I must agree with veiled, in that I understand the KKK still exist, though their dominance in society today is little to none, if not hidden in secrecy by now for fear of being killed for what they stand for.

A lot of coloured people in some parts of the South still live in fear of the KKK and their Neo-nazi clones, like it or not Veiled they still exist. Oh yes the Burning of Crosses still goes on. I saw a documentary the other week on the matter, made by an AMERICAN film crew. An that in 2005 the culture of racism still goes on in some parts of the South.

The documentary was on a programme called Dispatches. And it went on the evidence of a Senatorial Investigation conducted between 2002 and 2004, and stated thus:-
In certain States, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi, the committee concluded that institutional racism still goes on in certain parts of those fore mentioned States. Evidence, that during rallies of White Supremists, flags of The Confederacy, and Nazi Germany were flown quite openly by the thousands of supporters that were at these rallies. And the burning of crosses was evident on many occaisions, which was secretly filmed by Federal Investigators. Many of the people attending the rallies were local Police Chiefs, Mayors, and other Civic Dignotaries dressed in the White Capes of the KKK.
Certain towns in these states, have the attitude that the coloured's (there words, not mine) and people of mixed race are second class citizens, and should be kept segregated. And the coloured people live in fear of being beaten up or being murdered, there housing is sub-standard compared to housing of white people. Coloured people have virtually no chance of obtaining employment, as the jobs go to white people. Police brutality towards the coloured population of these towns was commonplace.
The Govenors of these States were told to sort the situation out or be stripped of their office. Police Chiefs and Mayors were ORDERED to appear before the Senatorial Committee to answer to charges of racism and brutality towards the above mentioned people.
These people have been charged under Federal Laws, and are waiting trial dates. The trials will take place in Neutral courts of law. So that they are given a fair trial.
The Reverand Jessie Jackson concluded after being interviewed by the documentary makers and of the Senate Findings. That these people must be hunted down and brought to justice, they have no place in modern American Society, yes Racism still takes place in certain Southern States, namely the ones mentioned above.
