| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Your welcome veiled. I have been down this path, and learnt by others identifying the same things to myself, so I guess these things jump out at me nowdays, and having them pointed out to me, were certainly positive aspects that I did need, even though I didn't realise it at the time. Even when we make mistakes, we shouldn't really put ourselves down for, but just accept that we made a mistake, learn from it, and hopefully not make that same mistake twice. We are all worth more than we know, and PTSD has its ways of telling us we are less than others, which is just not right. We are the same as everyone else, we just have a disorder that we carry with us, that can be controlled, and does make us equal to every other human being upon this planet.
Keep up the great work with yourself veiled, because it is definately helping you and others, as I think you can see from the support within replies to you. Congratulations... recovery is within everyone's grasp, we just have to reach out for it, and that you are certainly accomplishing. |

| | Great post, Wildfire! Nature is my healer also. I'm going to muster the courage to do the full tree hug, probably with my pear tree, a tree I truly do love. It is now completely hollow, and very old. And this year FULL of pears! Now there's determination. I should give it a round of applause too!
I sometimes put the palms of my hands on a tree to feel the energy, and YOU know what I'm talkin' about! There is a spirit in all living things. |

| | Have you hugged a tree Today? ALL RIGHT!!!! It's good to know that there's another tree-hugger on this forum !!!! I did get out this past Monday!!!! I went to my favorite park to enjoy the calming effects...I also took 6 shots of some neat things!!! The last 2 shots were of a pair of fawns that were near the road....I don't know if they will come out as I didn't have time to check my meter for lighting...I am hoping for the best!!! and......I hugged a tree!!! It was a "WOW experience to say the least!!! Where I live at is a MAJOR MAJOR source of stress!!! and I need every chance I can get to be at one with the natural world!!!! Out of curiousity....are you a dandylion fan too??? That's my favorite type of flower....as when my son was little he came inside with a dandylion bouquet for his mom!!! When I see them I of course think of him and how precious he is now [at age 29-today] Coming to my mind now is a quote that I once read "Nature never did betray the heart of him who loved her"....I can't remember who that phrase was attributed to.... people will wonder what you are up to!!!!

| | Dandelions... Yes, I do love dandelions and I let them grow as they like in my lawn. I also am a gardener - my major source of healing. Dandelion greens in the spring are one of the best tonics and the best solution for those that sprout up in the garden.
Every time I visit the garden I consciously look for the day's miracle. Yesterday it was an enormous black and yellow spider that had built a web. It's very zen.
I thought of you and your post again as I passed the pear tree earlier today. Should have hugged it, think I'll go do it now! |

| | My Mom would cook them just like spinnach, they are very high in vit C more than most fruits. But I hate spinnach so there is no way I would eat it. |

| | You can also eat them raw as a salad. They should be really young and tender, only a few inches tall. And if you want the plant to live, just pick the greens and don't pull the roots. They come back! Just rinse them thoroughly and they're ready!
You can mix the dandelion greens with other salad greens if you like. I prefer olive oil and lemon juice on them or only lemon juice. Keep it simple and healthy! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
