| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Sorry veiled, I hope I didn't offend you. It does seem like there is a lot of gun violence by comparison to what we have here though, and that's what frightens me so much. I watch American news regularly and there are murders and shootings every day, whereas that's quite an event when it happens here. I guess it also depends on what part of the country you are in, rural areas might be better than the cities. Still I just get really afraid thinking that pretty much anyone could be carrying a weapon. Someday I hope I'll get over my fear enough to come to the US for a visit. Quote:

Well in that case I must be working hard enough because I always feel like crap afterwards. Maybe I will work on some other stuff then too, or at least try to. |

| | No offense taken. American news blows. Murder and bloodshed sells, and why I do not watch it. So much good happens, wish they would report it too. But then someone would just flip over to a gory show. |

| | Evie, I have the same distaste as you for America... far too many issues. Some lovely people in the country, no doubt, but way too f*cked up overall for my liking. I have been in war zones, not scared to do so, but I am scared of going to America. Work that one out? Thats how bad I believe the US is socially. |

| | I feel exactly the same as you Anthony. I'm just so afraid of the US. I get scared when they have elections too, although this last one, with the Democrats taking over a big part of the government made me feel a little better. I'm not as scared of the Democrats as I am of the Republicans. |

| | Never had a problem with a person legaly packing a gun. As for democrats and republicans in the US, They are equaly at fault for F***king up this country and the news media/Hoolywood runs a close second. According to what they tell us, I'm afraid to leave the US. |

| | Thanks for saying that, I almost typed the same thing but ehhh I seemed to be the only one involved in that discussion, when I was licensed to carry I had common sense with them when I did carry, enough so when I felt myself become unstable I had my safe removed from my home. Your run of the mill thugs are going to find the guns and carry and that is simply how it is. It is the law abiding citizens willing to jump through the hoops to get it legally, not thugs. You get pulled over you immedieatly are to inform the officer that you are legally armed. You get disarmed by them and then give them your license to carry. All good. Thugs are the ones who sneak it on you.
Reps and Dems... Don't get me started. That is why it is common for so many to hit the polls to say we are just trying to pick who seems to be the lesser of the two evils. We are at the mercy of what info is released about them and it is very hard to sort fact from a fictional positive spin. We desperately need a third party with standing and common sense. All seriously lacking. And double ohhh on the hollywood influence grrr... How in the hell do people who live in a fantasy land in their private jets think the are immune to the standards and way of life they tell everyone else they should live by (government included)? They don't have to as they are all elitist. Government, and outspoken "leaders" needs major overhaul. No doubt. |

| | Here is the difference as I see it... you carry a gun, legally or not, you get into an argument with someone, a gun comes out... a person moves in to hit the other, they pull the trigger. Do you think that is appropriate use of force? Fist against gun? I don't believe so.
Now, if a thug wanted to carry a knife, you can run from a knife, you can fight back and disarm them if you have the skills. You can't run from a bullet... sorry, I will never ever see that any person has the right to bear arms and carry weapons around the streets, apart from police. |

| | Anthony, in my area you can keep a gun in your automobile, but only use it when you feel that your life is in grave danger by someone threatening you with a gun themselves. In most theoretical situations, my weapon covers most threats I may experience. Just a little paranoia that came back with me from Iraq. |

| | Wow... that I can understand mac, if someone pulls a gun on you, then you could retaliate with the same force. Pretty fair to me, and I will be honest, I would never go into a gun fight without one. How much does this happen though across the US? I ask this, as all I see on CNN is deaths from shooting across the US. Guns, guns, guns... yuk. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
