Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now.

Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year.

Default WARNING! SSRI and Epilepsy
I would like anyone with a history of seizures, a family history of seizures, or epilepsy itself to take note of this.

SSRI's were NOT tested on anyone with a history, family history or epilepsy. The drug companies DO NOT know what these drugs can and/or will do.

My family doctor had consulted with a "specialist" over the use of SSRI's in my case, as I have epilepsy but have been seizure free for 7 years without medication. The "specialist" assured my family doctor there would be no problems. I was prescribed Zoloft and was on 25 mg for almost six months. It was okay. My dose was upped to 50 mg (which is the standard lowest dose) and I had a severely violent seizure in exactly 7 days from that upped dose. I almost had two more within hours of the first one. I was IMMEDIATELY removed from Zoloft and will not be able to take any SSRI again. The level of severity of the seizure could have taken my life.

PLEASE take SSRI's with caution if this runs in your family or your history in any way, as you may be risking your very life.
