My mind does a good job hiding my dreams from me. I wake in panic but cannot remember why. One thing is that I had come upon was an accident that had just happened after a hell of a panic attack, my first one that went for hours cycling. I was on my way back from the hospital trying to figure out what was happening to me still. There were dead babies out of the car. I think in my state of mind at the time is why it hit me so hard and jacked me up worse.

I can remember them when something jogs it. A week or so ago I was taking a nap and woke in panic. Could not recall what I was dreaming as usual, but knew I had to be to wake that way. I walked in to see my children watching a movie with a baby shown, then it hit me. I had been dreaming of a dead baby I was digging out of the sand on some beach. How it went from the side of the road to a beach is beyond me... The baby was in a blue blanket and so lifeless.

Well...lately I haven't really been able to get much sleep but when I do I still have nightmares...I have one where I'm being chased by a group of people but I don't know who they are or what they look like and I run until it feels like my heart will stop....I always manage to stay half a step ahead of them but it's very frightening and often images/memories of some of the stuff that happened also crop up...

RD, wow, this is an old post! So sorry to hear you are still dealing with this. Have you not had any time of a break in there? Just seems so hard to have to go at least 16 months and with knowing PTSD is a factor in them. I know I still get nightmares and for me they are more vivid now but no where near as often. How are yours as in frequency? Nightly? Weekly? Monthly?

Sorry I was a bit unclear...In the period since I last posted in this thread I haven't had them much until recently...which is why I got back to this thread. I realize how confusing that sounds...I'm just a bit out of it at the moment.

In terms of frequency, the most recent batch just started maybe a week ago but only once until today...it's very hard to quantify because I don't sleep a lot and it's hard to keep track of when exactly...Sleep has been elusive lately but I got some today and I had one...and the one I had a week or so ago...don't know exactly when...I woke up in a cold sweat...practically drenched...

I really don't have much of an explanation...yes, I've been havign a rough time lately, especially since I'm currently not in counselling and have also rememebrerd some new stuff...in general it's been very stressful...so maybe that's it?

That certainly makes sense to me. New memories can always bring old symptoms back. Your brain is trying to work through them.

RD, yes, new recalls will make things go back hard, sorry you have this now. Is there anything new for you that you want to discuss? Talking it out can help ease the nightmares. I will admit talking about it sucks and means you have to face it and it may make it worse for a while. It will though help in the end. Add new stresses and it can "send you over" symptom wise.

RD, feel free to PM me if you need about this or post in the PTSD only area. The facts still remain though, in that the nightmares are only a symptom of an underlying issue. More importantly is what has gone on in your life recently, what has happened / happening in your immediate future days / weeks? That is where the answer lay to ridding yourself of the nightmares once again.... but not in the nightmares themselves. Remember, nightmares are the symptom telling you something else is wrong, being something you fear or an event in your life is causing you anxiety and stress. It is this anxiety and stress which is the core of the problem. Fix the core, you no longer once again have nightmares. Never forget this. The more you learn to go looking at the core of the problem, the sooner you fix the symptoms that annoy your lifestyle.
