| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Welcome X. Cop here too. I had a similar experience years ago fighting a suspect over my gun. Don't feel bad about the dispatcher getting the wrong info. In my incident over my gun the dispatcher (a lifelong friend) got the street name mixed up and sent the cars 4 miles the other way. Longest 5 minutes ever. Anyway, welcome. I usually around here a couple times a week. |

| | Hi Terry,
I can tell you that just seeing that there are other cops on this forum, makes me feel better. I often feel like the only police officer who ever had problems. Of course I know that this is not true, but I personally do not know anyone else with PTSD.

| | Hi Officer X
I understand the triggers in movies, TV etc. I recently helped care for my brother who was diagnosed with cancer, that triggered memories of childhood sexual abuse, physical abuse in my family and took me back into the most painful time of all - finding my mom who had shot herself.
The feelings you have are "normal" considering your experiences, but do try to find a new job - happiness is fleeting and you should not sell yourself short! |

| | Thanks for all the kind words. I am indeed a very lucky guy to have such a wonderful wife. Without her I probably would never have made it this far. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
