Once you realise what it is you're doing it gets better. I used to disassociate the same level as you (luckily I can't drive or have a car so that didn't happen!) but i have improved. It took about a year but i am better than i was. I still dissassociate but not as badly.

I do it, but it scares me when I wake up and realize I was doing something I don't remember. I just have to realize that I am level headed, and know when I am up and about, I hope I am just as level headed then. The last time I did it I threw out my hot chocolate and brought it to the dumpster, (was told by a neighbor) and craved it when I was fully aware. I looked everywhere for it. So when I am like that I am health conscious at least.
Maybe this will help, just to know you are not alone.
