My prays for you Hodge and your Hank. It is amazing how deeply these little furry creatures ingrain themselves into our lives. They can capture a large piece of our hearts forever and we love them for it. Keep your chin up and a smile on your face. Hercules, B.C., Miss Fancy Pants and I are praying for you and yours HERC

Why is it that some people can't grasp the concept of a pet being a true member of our families. Their response to the loss of a pet is to just "Get Another Cat" ! That is a statement I will never understand. I'll never grasp the misguided concept they are under. You would not say that if a family was greiving the loss of a child. I just don't get it

I don't get it, either, Herc. Meant to respond to this sooner, but I've been grieving the rather sudden loss of a good friend.

I also don't get that many don't understand yet that these guys have individual personalities and emotions. Actually, I've read that scientists now think that dogs generally are emotionally equivalent to human three-year-olds. Don't know about that, though, mine seems a lot more mature. Seriously.

I hope you're doing better with your loss, Herc. Take care.

Thank You so very much for all of your caring and sympathy for the loss of our beloved kitty Lovey. We are still greiving but time is helping. I seem to have recovered, as her passing was not a complete surprise to me. The rest of the family-the other 3 cats-aren't doing as well. They really miss her and all of their little private play times and games.
While people tell us well, just get another cat--we all know what a stupid statement that is, I have done the next best thing. I am currently sheltering a litter of 3 orphan kittens We have had them since shortly after loosing our Lovey and they have truly helped me. Their eyes were barely open when I got them and of course I've had no sleep since, but I don't care. The kittens are so cute and a lot of fun to watch. Just wish I could get them weaned. I feel like I am raising a litter of rocks. They simly are not grasping the idea of canned cat food. But I've been through this before with other litters I have sheltered over the past 10 years. So wish me luck and again I thank all of you for your best wishes

Herc, I pray that your other cats find peace and ways to deal with their loss also. I know our Hank missed Tom so much after he passed away. But it seemed to actually become a growth experience for him. He got a lot closer to us, for example, letting us pick him up and snuggle him, and he was never really a "people cat" before that. Good for you on caring for those babies. It does help to have young life in the house. Good luck with them, and take care.

Oh Herc, I am so glad to hear you are sharing your love with nurturing those poor baby kittens. It will help with healing, although I understand that Lovey will never be replaced. We just went through and are still deeply grieving our loss of our beloved Puss Puss, but we too have taken on a new life to nuture, it helps fill the void a bit. It still hurts very bad though as I miss her all the time still. I am happy you have started a new circle in the circle of life! Are you going to keep one? I hope so

As much as I would love to keep 1 of the kittens, I am not going to. I would rather spend my time raising other orphan kittens. These babies will go to a local rescue and be put up for adoption when old enough and the I will get a new litter of kittens and the process begins again.
