I hope the medication increase helps Matt. Regarding the sleeping in, I would be inclined to let it slide as well Bec, as he just had his meds increased and it is anxiety. If it starts becoming a habit then I would be concerned, however I see no harm in it happening once in a while, especially considering the circumstances.

That is a puzzle, you both sleeping in. Do you have anyone who would be willing to ring you in the morning? Not certain that would be helpful, however it is the only thing I can think of, short of a third party physically coming to your house to wake you. I do hope this is simply a temporary situation, and that you will begin to wake up again once more, after things are more settled for you again. Take good care.

Hey Bec just finished reading your thread and wanted to say I really admire you. It can't be easy having PTSD yourself and caring for someone with PTSD at the same time. Your making the rest of us look bad. (; Joking aside, your an inspiration and there's some carers here who could take a leaf from your book.

Thank you Sapper (or do I call you Travis on here? lol) That is a huge compliment.

Kathy, I'm still mulling over the whole bed time thing, hence why I haven't posted. I could get morning phone calls but I don't hear the phone. I have no one reliable to wake me up. So.. hmm.. still thinking over here.

Matt is a stinker. Guess who has been turning his alarm clock off at night so it doesn't go off in the morning? I caught him last night.

V informs me my child is acting like a normal child. There are all sorts of antics taking place in this house lately. My god children put a ton of time and effort into not doing something! Ready to pull my damn hair out! I've had to pull out my Sargent hat, pull up my socks and start getting strict with some rules and double checking stuff (like ohh you know having showers and making school lunches.. god it's just ridiculous!) So yeah I think the med change is kicking in! lol

Hi Bec

I don't know if you have it where you are but in Australia you can actually ring a number and book your own wake up call for whatever time you want.

Sounds like Matt is being a typical child

That is indeed a puzzle Bec, if you do not hear the telephone and have no one to physically come wake you up. Our family is too far away for that, otherwise we could definitely take turns assisting you, as we are all morning people!

Yes, I agree Matt sounds like a very typical child. I had a chuckle hearing that he is turning off the alarm! Whilst frustrating for you it must be good to know that he is behaving normally.

I will continue to think of solutions for you Bec and post if I come up with anything viable. Take care.

Urg, just venting.

My son.. Slept in today. Missed the bus, he's sitting at home. I took away computer privileges for the day. I'm very pissed off about it though. I don't know if he turned his alarms on or not so I can't go back on that. I am just annoyed with him...

We seen his psych yesterday. He's to try out taking melatonin and if that doesn't help him with sleep, they will look at cycling him on trazadone for sleep since it's becoming a huge issue in this house.

I think we need an alarm clock that lifts your bed and tosses you on the cold floor in the morning! One for me and one for him! hehe

You know I forgot to mention this so I will now. You know those older style wind up clocks? Pain in the ass since you have to wind it daily and double check the time on them, but they have the hammer on top that goes back and forth hitting the bells. It is loud as hell and very annoying sound. They are cheap so it may be worth a try. I forgot about those but those will wake the dead and even me.

Well Matt came X-mas shopping with me today. We had to hit the post office and pharmacy first, and then while waiting for our prescriptions, we went to a clothing store. Matt did good. He picked out three items (I pretended not to see.. since I'm the one holding the cash! lol) and he will wrap them later. By the time we got that done and went and got the prescription, his face had paled and he was dragging himself around. We went and got some food to take home and called it quits.

It's the first time Matt has gone in a mall with me. He last about an hour which is very good. He still has about half of his shopping left to do. However I'm glad we only went for an hour. I'm sure he would have passed out had I pushed any more.

Baby steps.. but I'm getting him there.
