| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Dream Interpretation I find interpreting my dreams as well as other people's dreams to be a hobby. I also feel it has healing potential for people with PTSD.
I used to have tons of nightmares and once I started dream work and understanding what my dreams meant, I quit having as many nightmares. In addition, even the strange/odd dreams started disappearing.
If anyone has a dream that they would like to have interpreted you can post it. If you feel it is to personal you can PM me.
Disclaimer: Dream reading is not fortune telling and I am not a licensed therapist. I've been reading dreams for 3 years and have done extensive research into the human psyche with respect to dreams. It is not an exact science, but the symbols in dreams give clues into what our subconscious mind is trying to tell us.
It is just a hobby, with potential healing. Give it a try and see what you think.
Tammy
P.S. I will post one of my dreams with an interpretation in order to see how it works. |

I am living close by the ocean in a house that is built on stilts. The house is very high off of the ground incase the ocean comes past the shore-line. I head out to the ocean shore and I am lying on a towel in the sand with some guy who I seem to like. As we look out at the ocean waves it looks very pretty and peaceful.
I walk back to my house and see how tall my house is and there are a lot of steps leading up to the door. I look around and see there are 3 other houses just like mine.
Then I look out toward the ocean and the water is dirty.
Then I walk out toward the shore and the ocean is now bloody and I feel confused.
Inerpretation:
Houses represent our psyche and I have made sure my mind is equipped for disaster (house on stilts). The steps that reach the house are high, but nothing in life comes easily.
I enjoy the beauty of peace, and I feel grounded and at ease with myself (The guy is an aspect of myself). However, time is always changing and nothing ever stays the same, which indicates the water is dirty now.
I realize that life is not always peaceful, so now my view/outlook of the situation is changing into negative thinking.
The bloody water indicates thoughts of confusion about past hurts/fears/traumas and I walk toward it in confusion.
I see 3 other houses like my own, and these represent aspects of myself. One is clear and stable with love and peace (clear water), the other is full of negative thoughts (dirty water), and the third is past, present and future thoughts about healing (bloody water). I walk toward the confusion in blind faith in order to deal with my issues.

| | Hi Veiled, If this were my dream I would think that I have been allowing myself to 'feel' free, and letting my genuine emotions guide/direct my behaviors and moods recently.
Most dreams have the content of what has been happening in the last 24 to 48 hours prior to having them.
Peace

| | OK Tammy, I've got a shocker of a dream for you!
I have a heap of dreams, and mostly I can figure it out. Sometimes I share with my therapist & we figure it out together.
But this one is gross *warning warning warning!!!*
I dreamt there were rows of unflushed toilets (that's the nicest way of putting it). I didn't want to use any of the toilets because they were so gross.
There were all these chest of draws, someone suggested I pee in there, but I said it's too small & awkard.
In the end someone got some chocolate. Asked me to paint chocolate over the chocolate and that I had to aim my pee on one chocolate square.
I woke up. Surprisingly I didn't need to go to the toilet (which sometimes happens when you have toilet dreams).
Weird huh!?!! |

| | Hi Awakening, most dreams seem weird to the dreamer, but I haven't read a dream thats shocked me yet. I read dreams as if they were my own, so that it doesn't seem like I'm pointing the finger or judging the dreamer.
As a general rule toilets/pee/poop represents ridding ourselves of waste and toxins. In this case it appears I'm trying to rid myself of quit a few habits/addictions, but I'm unable to completely let go of them as of yet. (unflushed toilet)
As I continue to try and rid myself of these addictions/habits, I feel the need to piss on some of them (aggravated) or hide them? I realize neither of these tactics will work.
Most likely one of my addictions is to chocolate, and this is one of the things I'm trying to get over. I try to paint (cover up) my addiction so know one else will know about it, but unfortunately I cover the addiction up with more addictive behaviors, and that is why the toilets haven't been flushed yet. Trying to urinate is another way of trying to rid myself of an addiction or habit, but I haven't accomplished this yet.
*However, chocolate may be a symbol of another addiction here? This isn't a weird dream, it's a positive dream, at least your aware, and trying to rid yourself of it.
Side Note: A few ingredients in chocolate has a psychological affect on the body, and is linked to serotonin in the brain. There are a lof of people addicted to chocolate and I happen to be one of them. I dream about chocolate and sugar all of the time. About two months ago I dreamed that I tried to drown my brother for taking a candy bar away from me LOL.
Peace

| | Toonces I've never seen that cat. I had to google it to find out what you were talking about :-)
It's true that most people dream about some of what they see on television.
Peace

| | I'm sorry I interrupted this serious thread with a dopey comment, Tammy and Veiled. I think Toonces is one of the funnier regular skits on SNL in recent years. I'm feeling a bit loopy due to medication changes and just couldn't resist noting the comparison at the moment. Doh. |

| | Toonces That's OK, this isn't that serious. I'm just doing what I like to do, and if anyone wants to make a comment that is fine with me. Comments and feedback is a good thing :-) Quote:
