Default A Newly Minted Advocate For PTSD Casualties

Hello-

I am a veteran who does not suffer from PTSD, but who has become very aware of the impact of PTSD and TBI on our active duty military personnel and veterans. I have joined this forum to 1) learn more and 2) to invite anyone who is interested in visting a new advocacy web site I have launched. I am trying to bring attention to the general public about our PTSD casualties and also trying to do some advocacy on behalf of our PTSD casualties, whether from ongoing combat operations or from prior military service.

If you have a few minutes, please check out http://FIGHT-PTSD.ORG

I would really appreciate any feedback in terms of how I can leverage my website to gain the attention and engagement of the general public. I am also interested in learning if there is anything else I can develop on the web site that might assist in supporting the PTSD community.

Thanks.

Hi big fella, welcome to the forum. Good to see others actively helping towards relevant causes. I must say though, we do not allow the live posting of links here or self advertisement. Please be aware of the editorial policy for this forum.

Look forward to chatting more with you.

No problem, Anhony, did not realize until after you intervened and I read the editorial policy. Isn't that how a lot of things go, we act and then maybe we get around to reading the instructions.

Wondering if you can configure the vbulletin application to suppress the linking icon from the posting template?

It's been a long time since my service days, and I have had a pretty good life, so I figure its about time I gave something back, and what better way than to try and help all of my brothers and sisters in service, whether this generation, or previous generations.

Thanks for the welcome.

Hey mate, yes I can do that, however; with everything brings consequences. If I disable it, the only way to do it is pretty much permanently, at which point sometimes we as editors like to link something of importance to a post. We find it easier to pull people up immediately, everyone then knows the rules and post happily. Anyone who attempts to go against the rules simply goes back into moderation.

Every post gets reviewed here by an editor, so nothing slips by any of us. This is why we have the moderated period, for people to learn the rules. Typically those who are willing to accept the rules do so and respect them, they become registered members. Those who choose not too often remain moderated or simply leave the forum as they only came with the intent to market or spam. Very effective strategy we developed over a period. We certainly made our mistakes here, have no doubt; though learnt from them.

Thanks, Anthony. At the site I moderate we had evaluated the vbulletin software but one reason we chose not to implement it, was the fact that it had too many "bells and whistles", we try to keep our forums simple, and don't even permit any type of rich text formatting. no smilies, etc. We have over 100,000 registered users and sometimes it is like "herding cats".
