| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | Calgon Take Me Away - But I Did Not Buy a Plug or Sitter How does bath time in your home go? Especially when you really want to soak up some bubbles? This is a day for me, 2 days ago actually. I need to invest in one of those plastic plugs I see now as my tub has a slow leak and I wrangle children.
OK, mid afternoon I decided I want a nice hot bubble bath. I got some pricey one for x mas I love... So hot water and a bath begging me.
I go grab my wrap and go to head in... 16 yo son has run in and shut door. I bang. Well, he is now pooing and not to be pulled off no matter what I yell. Half hour later... Would YOU go in???
OK, we air it out, spray febreeze, and since my tub has slow leak I refill and more bubbles...
I get ready to disrobe again and a scream comes from other bath. It is lil' one who just turned 4 and still learning fine art of butt wiping. Does it take much imagination? For those it does, think sweater sleeve got it, as did hips, thighs down to knees, both hands, and even on forehead! How I do not know. So she gets dunked in that bath after I run some cold to cool it. Fire hose was not available.
So after I get her cleaned and combed out (her hair is hip length) I get sucked into a show I have been waiting on. I go draw my bath, again. Kids run out to play in snow. My bath is done. I am in bathroom getting ready for 3rd round. Screams yet AGAIN. Boys being DAs lil' one hit in head with baseball bat.
OK, so ice packs, pupil checks, consoling... Bath drains. She is wound up and ready to go again and yet again I draw a bath.
I am all nakedy this time, I am almost there! Bubbles tickling toes as I go in... I do not even make it to hot water, just cool bubbles and a loud thump outside bath door. Screams and added this time is daddy frantically yelling MOMMA! She was running down the hall and tripped and since she had fist fulls of fruit did not even try to catch herself at all... Can't get water melon dirty! She ate the door jam with her face. We had a dent this time on her eyebrow.
Replay of last scene/injury. She falls asleep in my lap. I slither out and try yet one more time and it is evening at this point. Did I make it? Yes, 5th time is a charm even if it is just about that many hours later! And hubby wonders why some days it is all I have to just get a bath LOL! BTW I went through half bottle of bubbles for one bath!

| | I remember the days when my kids were little and we only had one bathroom. I don't think I took anything but showers for years. Really no point.
Now one's grown and one's almost grown and it's still a minor miracle to get an uninterrupted bubblebath. I usually end pulling the shower curtain so someone can use the commode (still only have one bathroom!). I tell my husband when he comes in to use the bathroom and I'm in the tub, 'You sit down and you're a dead man!'
Here's hoping that you can get your bubblebath first time around next time. I would suggest in the middle of the night when everyone's asleep. At least you won't be interrupted...maybe.

| | It's not having what you want, but wanting what you've got.

| | Would not trade it for the world... But a bath on occasion and peeing by myself after 16 years would be pretty cool. Even in the days my latches worked I had peering eyes under the door or little hands reaching, at least you know where they are.
Lisa, a shower in this house is no break. Lil' one sneaks in as lock on one bath broke and door to other prevents shutting all the way. Shower to her means story time. She comes in and parks it to talk it up and giggles as you yell, get out and threaten corner time. She knows we are not going to come out naked and really go put her in corner and she is out like a flash soon as water is shut off.
Drives me nuts but they are funny as hell. I cannot wait until they get the same thing! I am looking forward to empty nest and grand babies. Thing with spaced 12 years apart I will have the grands way before the empty nest! |

| | I read this earlier but couldn't respond since I was nursing at the keyboard. Now, as I speak, I've started the bath time routine for tonight. My oldest is in the bathtub turning into a prune and I only have two more kids to go. Leo by far is the easiest since he doesn't complain much about washing. For me to get a bath, well, that means I have to have a baby in there with me. Or...I get little curious children in there asking me all kinds of weird questions... (why is it they notice the things we would rather just not know?) It's just best not to take one. Instead, I'm thankful if I can get a hot shower without interruption. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
