Default PTSD Suggestions Please

Hi. Just found this site. I suffer from PTSD secondary to my husbands terminal cancer (maybe delayed from military expeiences as well USCG)???. I had a full blown attack of PTSD about 18 months ago...wierd stuff....cost me my job at the hospital as a registered nurse....sent my to a psychiatrist then a psychologist....no testing done.
After 18 months of Cancer remission, we are in regression with the cancer metastasis....I am starting back on Celexa.......I guess a good dose of therapy would do me some good. Dont exactly know how to get started.....VA hospital???

Welcome captrn, lovely to have you. I am a little confused, you have PTSD from caring for your husband with cancer, or you are a veteran and might have PTSD from that, or perhaps both? If you are a veteran then yes I would think you could get some assistance at the VA hospital or at the very least some referrals. I am sorry to hear your husband is out of remission, that must be devastating. My daughter has cancer, she went into remission recently and we are hoping for the best. In any event, welcome to the forum, I do hope you find the help you need here. There is much information and support. Please feel free to ask all the questions you need to and take care.

Hello Captrn and welcome. My wife was an LPN with PTSD and had to quit. After 20+ years of nursing, it began triggering her bigtime. I hope this place helps.

Hi Captrn, welcome to the forum. You have already created a good start, just being here which means you acknowledge a problem and are preparing to work through it. Well done.... now for the hard work itself though. Therapy is good.... and yes, the cancer could simply be the straw that broke the camels back.....
