| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Good Mom Story! I got a note from my sons occupational therapist telling me that the improvement this year is excellent! Hit teacher told me I was one of the best Mothers she has ever met...the EA that tutored him here last year told me the same thing.
This week he is starting to try to eat new foods and he is doing well...this issue has been going on for three years...now finally we are getting somewhere.
He is bathing himself...still needs my help but with guidance he is becoming more independant.
He transitioned with this move so well he could not have done any better.
He is sleeping in his own bed every night....he is not even crawling in with me.
I guess i just needed to pat myself on the back..with so much going on and with him having ocd, aspergers and tourettes...he is EXCELLING...they even used that word. I can honestly say..I did it all on my own. The other kids in his class go to respite...I just could never put him in an institutional setting....I would rather have them here. Socially he is coming along but I have allowed him to have friends sleep over every weekend so he can learn to relate and relate to his peers and continue to be a good friend and a good person. We have used the autism support group...that was very hard...he really didn't like it and my body was at the stage that it never stopped shaking so I felt like I looked like a freak. I know I have done the best for him even with being on my own and healing my PTSD.
I guess that is a success story.....3 or 4 years ago....I really thought he would be better off without me...Wrong thinking....I know. |

| | I agree, you should be very proud of yourself. Your son's progress, and your own as well, are the results of your patience, determination, love, and hard work. It's great to hear. |

| | You go, Pandora! Realizing that our kids are doing well as a direct result of our (parents) hard work makes all of the tough times worth it.
Congrats!

| | Again thank you She cat and mightsurvive...it is nice to read positive threads sometimes...this time it was about me. That makes me feel good!!!! Now if my migraine would go away...I could use this positive energy to continue unpacking.
Thankfully this is the first really bad vomiting, migraine in about 3 weeks. Now....I just quite literally have pains in my bum...LOL...The joys of degenerative discs...positive thoughts, positive thoughts. I have my next lumbar epidural and sacrailiac joint block in march...I will be able to walk more normally again...for about 8 weeks. I''l take that over not hardly being able to walk.....anytime.
Again...my thread went into a vent...LOL I know my brain is just working overtime. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
